日期方面，美國英國英語的表達方式是有差別的。以日為先，月份為後，此為英國式；美國式則與此相反，以月為先，日期則在後。如一九九六年三月二日的寫法：

在美式的寫法中，1st, 2nd, 3rd的st, nd, rd是不使用的。由於日期書面表達不同，讀法也不一樣。如1987年4月20日，英式的寫法是20th April, 1987，讀成the twentieth of April, nineteen eighty-seven；美式的表達是April 20, 1987，則讀成April the twentieth, nineteen eighty-seven。同樣，全部用數字表達日期時，英美也有差別。1998年5月6日按照英國式應寫成6/5/98，而按照美國式應寫成5/6/98;01.08.1998是英國式的1998年8月1日，按照美國的表達方式卻是1998年1月8日。
